1.10.18: VALUEworks holds its 3rd Family Summit

On September 6 & 7, clients and key partners of VALUEworks gathered in its Zurich offices to discuss overarching issues that matter to today’s global families. With the theme “Aligning Wealth to Family Values”, this year’s Family Summit featured closed-door, interactive sessions where participants could share experiences as well as engage with the wealth management industry’s top practitioners.

VALUEworks’ Peter Wuthrich and Amer Vohora walked participants through the process of transforming their personal goals into strategic investing. Co-Impact Managing Director and VALUEworks Advisory Board member Silvia Bastante de Unverhau talked about the enduring quality of passion in philanthropy. A highlight of the day was the private tour of an art collection. At the dinner at Zurichberg, Molly Bingham, CEO of Orb Media, reflected on her family’s history in journalism.

Digital COO Charlie Bain tackled the timely issue of data ownership and digital security amidst rapidly changing technology. This was followed by an animated panel on the dynamics of business families, with family governance expert Barbara Hauser, COFRA Holding Head of Strategy Markus Wirth and IMD Prof Peter Vogel and moderated by VALUEworks’ Valerie Jenni. Personal reflections on the handover of the family business were shared by guests, which included Daniel Spring of Spring Holding. Marnin Michaels of Baker McKenzie delivered his keynote speech with a unique perspective on the purpose of wealth. This was followed by a panel of sustainability in wealth planning led by VALUEworks CEO Kecia Barkawi and included PwC’s Marcel Widrig, Withers’ Katharine Landells and Baker McKenzie’s Jacopo Crivellaro. The final session of the Family Summit on health and well-being was presented by Feisal Alibhai of Qineticare.
